Understanding the Mind -Body-Spirit Connection Time 1:30 PM

In this presentation, you will learn about the vast importance of how we think, the three aspects of our mind and the roles they play in our daily living, health, and healing. We will also explore the ‘other part of us’, the aura, and the important role it plays in our life. Understanding the role the aura plays can help us better understand its importance in our daily living and why. We are all spiritual beings!  We will briefly explore how we can express this part of ourselves in very simple ways, not just religion.

Speaker Bonnie Watson has given energy/spiritual healing over the years in hospitals, nursing homes, and doctor's offices throughout Michigan and California.  She has experienced firsthand how healing can help others, and the importance of learning about the mind-body-spirit connection for a better life in any number of ways. She looks forward to helping our members experience it too!

Sweater Knitting Workshop Time 1:30 PM Consider the last time someone complimented your sweater. Now imagine being able to reply, “Thanks! I made it!” You’ve been knitting at least long enough to be pretty confident in your abilities…are you ready to take the plunge and knit your first pullover sweater? The idea of knitting a sweater can be daunting even for those who have been knitting for decades, but it’s not as difficult as you might think. A pullover sweater is just three tubes with some fun stuff in between! In this 4-part workshop, we will learn the basics of sweater construction, how to choose a pattern and yarn, and how to make sure your sweater will fit you in the end. You will benefit most by attending all four sessions. By the end of the four weeks, you will be well on your way to conquering your first sweater…hopefully the first of many! While she does not claim to be a knitting teacher, Heather has been knitting for over 15 years. In that time, she has knit over fifty sweaters and has helped many knitters troubleshoot their creations. This is not a learn to knit class and you will need to be confident with basic knitting stitches (knit, purl, and increasing/decreasing) and knitting in the round. If you have knit a hat in the round, you already have all the skills you will need! Because the yarn and needles you choose for a garment are a very personal decision, please plan to provide your own supplies for this workshop if you are able. We will discuss choosing a pattern and yarn in the first session, so you may want to wait to make a purchase until after that. If you have questions or concerns about this, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Heather at hbill@gildasclubdetroit.org. Info & Registration
