Ab Blast for Beginners! Time 10:15 AM Lets come together and hold eachother accountable this spring to achieve our health & wellness goals! This class is a dvd-led instruction from Curtis Adams, host of the national senior exercise television series Vitality 4 Life. Every Monday, we'll play his DVD that is easy-to-follow and specifically designed for beginners and older adults seeking low impact safe and effective exercises that are fun to do! It is an invigorating age reverse workout. This Ab Blast exercise program is specifically created using low impact aerobic movements to burn calories without any jumping or jarring, strengthen and tone your entire body plus target your core with seated ab exercises (never on the floor). Coping 101: Managing Healthy Boundaries Time 11:30 AM This session, we will be discussing healthy boundary setting discuss helpful ways on how to maintain our boundaries. Each participant will receive a boundary setting workbook that we will be engaging in an activity from. Mindful Resilience Yoga Time 1:00 PM Move More Freely, Concentrate And Think More Clearly, Manage Stress More Easily, And Feel More At Ease. Mindful Resilience is a yoga program that includes instruction and practice with self-regulation tools. All Levels Yoga Series Time 10:00 AM Join Debra for an alignment based class with emphasis on breath and movement -creating a safe nurturing space to explore meditation, mindfulness, streching and strengthing and stabilizing the body. This is a 6 part series, meeting bi-weekly on Wednesday mornings. Debra Weisman completed level 1, 2 and 3 Master Level Reiki Training and certification via Beaumont Health's Department of Integrative Medicine and is certified with Nurses Association for clinical facilitation in oncology services. Beginners Tap Dance! Time 1:30 PM Come have fun and learn how to tap dance with this adult beginner tap class. Each class we will slowly and clearly guide you through the basic steps of tap dancing and learn a little choreography as well. Each month we will start a new choreography set. Meaning we will continually add on to the dance we learn throughout the month, so it's best to join at the top of the month! Don’t have tap shoes? No problem, wear your favorite tennis shoes or socks until you get the hang of the moves. Once you are hooked you can purchase your shoes. Info & Registration

Art Therapy For All Time 10:00 AM Art Therapist Erin Shahly, MEd, ATR, will host an interactive therapeutic art workshop. We’ll focus on self-expression and self-discovery. Weighted Yoga Time 10:00 AM Join us for Weighted Yoga with Cathie, a fantastic addition to your regular yoga practice. Using small hand weights, the class will begin and end like a traditional yoga class. In the middle, we will alternate between a yoga segment and an upper body weight segment, building a well rounded, full body workout. (1 and 2 pound weights can be used together to create a 3 pound set. 2 and 3 pound weights can eventually be put together to equal a 5 pound set.) Info & Registration

Sue Fabian Series: Funeral Consumerism & Pre-Planning Time 11:00 AM What took me two months to pre-plan my mother’s funeral is undertaken by most in two days in a state of deep grief and sleepwalking. Pre-planning your funeral is truly your last gift to your loved ones. This workshop will help you walk into any funeral home with basic knowledge of the traps that siphon your hard-earned dollars. I will also discuss alternatives to traditional funerals and propose a basic layout for a service. Handouts of the presentation will be available along with a one-page pre-planning document to let your heirs know of your preferences. A chart will also be provided to help you cost-compare in shopping around. All adults are encouraged to engage in this planning as part of your basic estate planning. Remember, what you do not do now gets dumped in the laps of your loved ones at the moment of their deepest suffering. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Time 6:00 PM Through mindfulness, you’ll learn new and intentional responses to situations, communications, and relationships with yourself and others. The automatic reactions that are not serving you will be replaced with new pathways, leading to greater emotional, mental, and physical well-being. MBSR tools and techniques are accessible to all individuals, no matter the age and physical ability. Guided meditation, gentle movement and stretching, and small group discussion are experienced in each of the eight weekly classes. You must commit to attending all eight sessions. The heart-shaped pillows, created by breast cancer survivors, are used to soothe both physical and emotional pain immediately after surgery, radiation or other treatment. Beginners Tap Dance! Time 1:30 PM Come have fun and learn how to tap dance with this adult beginner tap class. Each class we will slowly and clearly guide you through the basic steps of tap dancing and learn a little choreography as well. Each month we will start a new choreography set. Parenting With Cancer Group Time 5:00 PM For parents undergoing treatment themselves or recently completed treatment. Parents will have an opportunity to share, learn, and support one another through their parenting journeys and all of the complexities that come with parenting with cancer. This group is an opportunity for those who have lost a loved one to cancer and are wanting to connect with others on managing life after loss. Managing the Adverse Side Effects and Symptoms of Cancer Treatment Time 6:00 PM Deb Doherty, PT, Ph.D, will present on helpful ways to manage the adverse effects and symptoms caused from the treatments for cancer including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiation treatments. Deb is a breast cancer survivor and an adjunct faculty in the Graduate Certificate Program in Oncology Rehabilitation at Oakland University and a co-editor of the textbook entitled: "Oncology Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians", among many other distinctions. Deb will be presenting virtually. However, attendees are welcome to come in person to the Lake House and enjoy dinner while viewing this educational opportunity. Register today! Weighted Yoga Time 10:00 AM Join us for Weighted Yoga with Cathie, a fantastic addition to your regular yoga practice. Using small hand weights, the class will begin and end like a traditional yoga class. In the middle, we will alternate between a yoga segment and an upper body weight segment, building a well rounded, full body workout. (1 and 2 pound weights can be used together to create a 3 pound set. 2 and 3 pound weights can eventually be put together to equal a 5 pound set.) Info & Registration

Come get a good workout in while learning about your local cancer support resource. Zumba (low-impact) will protect your joints and muscles while raising your heart rate and improve your balance, posture, and coordination. This low impact workout allows you to go at your own speed and the instructor provides routines that are fun, engaging and easy to follow! Info & Registration
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Time 6:00 PM Through mindfulness, you’ll learn new and intentional responses to situations, communications, and relationships with yourself and others. The automatic reactions that are not serving you will be replaced with new pathways, leading to greater emotional, mental, and physical well-being. MBSR tools and techniques are accessible to all individuals, no matter the age and physical ability. Guided meditation, gentle movement and stretching, and small group discussion are experienced in each of the eight weekly classes. You must commit to attending all eight sessions. Every Monday, we'll play his DVD that is easy-to-follow and specifically designed for beginners and older adults seeking low impact safe and effective exercises that are fun to do! It is an invigorating age reverse workout. This Ab Blast exercise program is specifically created using low impact aerobic movements to burn calories without any jumping or jarring, strengthen and tone your entire body plus target your core with seated ab exercises (never on the floor). The Uncomfortable Conversation of Hospice Care Time 6:00 PM Due to fears and misconceptions, most people with advanced illnesses postpone hospice enrollment and miss out on months of symptom management and psychosocial support available for themselves as patients and/or their families.
