Expectant mothers have 9 months to prepare to care for a precious new life, and she gets all kinds of help. But on the other end of life, we find ourselves with a loved-one’s life in our hands with absolutely no training. Can you effectively communicate with health care professionals, move through the maze of health care, deal with systems and policies of health care institutions? It’s a bewildering other world that has it own customs and even its own language. Have you ever felt like the outsider who is often side-stepped in the care of your loved one? Elderlaw Attorney, Geriatric Care Manager and Licensed Professional Counselor Sue E. Fabian walked this road for 22 years as a sole caregiver, and has helped scores of clients and families learn how to best advocate for their loved ones in health care settings.
