NIA Time 10:00 AM NIA is sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and yoga. This Workshop includes a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body. The movements in Nia have been shown to re-program neuropathways and increase mobility, stability, flexibility, and perception. Info & Registration
Tai Chi Time 11:00 AM Tai Chi is a Chinese martial arts practice that is gentle, non-strenuous, and has proven health benefits which include muscle strength, flexibility, and balance. Led by licensed instructor Martine Salane. Info & Registration

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Series Time 6:00 PM Paying attention to what’s happening inside you….thoughts, emotions, and body sensations….in the present moment can make all the difference. With awareness, you’ll learn new and intentional responses to situations, communications, and relationships with yourself and others. The automatic and mindless reactions that are not serving you well will be replaced with new pathways leading to greater emotional, mental, and physical well-being. MBSR tools and techniques are accessible to all individuals, no matter the age and physical ability. Guided meditation, gentle movement and stretching, and small group discussion are experienced in each of the eight weekly classes. Fighting Pretty Through Cancer Time 8:00 PM Kara battled stage 3 breast cancer at the age of 26. While in treatment, a family friend gave her a pair of mini pink boxing gloves. Those gloves were the beginning of an incredible new journey for Kara, surviving cancer , founding Fighting Pretty, going flat, and beyond. Coping with the Holidays Time 4:00 PM Coping with the holidays when we are battling cancer can be an added stress rather than a time of joy. Worrying about what to eat, how to eat, not able to enjoy our meals, managing nausea and vomiting can be a challenge. Not being able to participate in gatherings due to low counts or concerns about CoVID can aggravate a sense of loneliness and depression. Difficulty traveling because you have clotting issues, concerns about crowds and multiple medications can make one feel left out. And then there is the biggest stress of all: how to truly experience joy, how to truly be present when we are afraid of not being here at all. Join us as Dr. Roy and her team tackles this thorny topic and helps us to navigate the holidays and get to the other side, intact and with some peace. Info & Registration

POUND Fitness Time 6:30 PM Channel your inner rockstar with this full body cardio-jam session inspired by the fun of playing the drums. You become the music in this exhilarating workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Designed for all fitness levels. Please remember to wear comfortable tennis shoes. You will also need two regular drumsticks, wooden spoons, wooden dowels or similar items that are approximately 16 inches long. Please set aside a space that allows for free movement of your arms all around your body and above your head (you will also need space for your “stix” too). Now the 1st Saturday of every month. Multiple Myeloma Support Group Time 6:00 PM A Support group for those diagnosed with multiple myeloma who are seeking support from others as well. This group also welcomes caregivers and support persons of those diagnosed and is facilitated by a licensed clinician. Members may be currently in treatment or post treatment. A new targeted therapy called BLENREP has recently been approved by the FDA for treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. On November 23 at 6:00 pm via Zoom, a presentation by a GSK representative will cover BLENREP's indication and important safety information, how BLENREP works, the clinical trial results, its side effect profile, and supportive care. NIA Time 10:00 AM NIA is sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and yoga. This Workshop includes a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body. Afternoon Meditation Time 12:00 PM Terri Koster will be facilitating a weekly meditation workshop in Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit’s Virtual World.
