When navigating life transitions, traumas, and events, it can hinder our creative abilities. Often times, we are unable to find the words to express why we feel, how we feel. Meet Michele Whalen, who has experience in Mental Health counseling and Art Therapy as she encourages us to embrace our emotions, and channel that power through art. Art Therapy For All Time 10:00 AM Art Therapist Erin Shahly, MEd, ATR, will host an interactive therapeutic art workshop. We’ll focus on self-expression and self-discovery. There is no experience necessary to participate, all are welcome. We will come together to create meaningful worksof art that will provide a creative outlet and promote relaxation. Common supplies to be used regularly will be household items such as: newspaper, magazines, tape, foil, markers, crayons, paints, glue etc. but you can use what you’ve got! Info & Registration
Weighted Yoga Time 10:00 AM Join us for Weighted Yoga with Cathie, a fantastic addition to your regular yoga practice. Using small hand weights, the class will begin and end like a traditional yoga class. In the middle, we will alternate between a yoga segment and an upper body weight segment, building a well rounded, full body workout. (1 and 2 pound weights can be used together to create a 3 pound set. 2 and 3 pound weights can eventually be put together to equal a 5 pound set.) Info & Registration

Cancer PATH Workshop Intro Session Time 11:00 AM Cancer PATH is an interactive workshop designed to help individuals with any kind of cancer improve their health and feel better. Whether newly diagnosed, in active treatment, or living beyond It, this program helps survivors cope with the concerns, thoughts, and health conditions that accompany having a cancer diagnosis. Topics covered include dealing with difficult emotions, living with uncertainty, getting better sleep, managing pain and fatigue, getting active again, and more. Zumba Fitness Time 4:00 PM Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit has partnered with Penny Love Fitness to offer FREE Community Zumba once monthly! Come get a good workout in while learning about your local cancer support resource. Zumba (low-impact) will protect your joints and muscles while raising your heart rate and improve your balance, posture, and coordination. This low impact workout allows you to go at your own speed and the instructor provides routines that are fun, engaging and easy to follow! Info & Registration
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Time 6:00 PM Through mindfulness, you’ll learn new and intentional responses to situations, communications, and relationships with yourself and others. The automatic reactions that are not serving you will be replaced with new pathways, leading to greater emotional, mental, and physical well-being. MBSR tools and techniques are accessible to all individuals, no matter the age and physical ability. Guided meditation, gentle movement and stretching, and small group discussion are experienced in each of the eight weekly classes. You must commit to attending all eight sessions. Ab Blast for Beginners! Time 10:15 AM Lets come together and hold eachother accountable this spring to achieve our health & wellness goals! This class is a dvd-led instruction from Curtis Adams, host of the national senior exercise television series Vitality 4 Life. Every Monday, we'll play his DVD that is easy-to-follow and specifically designed for beginners and older adults seeking low impact safe and effective exercises that are fun to do! It is an invigorating age reverse workout. This Ab Blast exercise program is specifically created using low impact aerobic movements to burn calories without any jumping or jarring, strengthen and tone your entire body plus target your core with seated ab exercises (never on the floor). The Uncomfortable Conversation of Hospice Care Time 6:00 PM Due to fears and misconceptions, most people with advanced illnesses postpone hospice enrollment and miss out on months of symptom management and psychosocial support available for themselves as patients and/or their families. Join Karen Delaflor, RN from Assured Hospice as they discuss the benefits of hospice care. Karen will also discuss myths and misconceptions centered around the idea of hospice. This is a 6 part series, meeting bi-weekly on Wednesday mornings. Debra Weisman completed level 1, 2 and 3 Master Level Reiki Training and certification via Beaumont Health's Department of Integrative Medicine and is certified with Nurses Association for clinical facilitation in oncology services. Beginners Tap Dance! Time 1:30 PM Come have fun and learn how to tap dance with this adult beginner tap class. Each class we will slowly and clearly guide you through the basic steps of tap dancing and learn a little choreography as well. Each month we will start a new choreography set. Meaning we will continually add on to the dance we learn throughout the month, so it's best to join at the top of the month! Don’t have tap shoes? Some of these nooks and crannies in coverage are vital to know. Medicaid has less familiarity and it is a very confusing program. It’s basics are covered, especially nursing home coverage. Weighted Yoga Time 10:00 AM Join us for Weighted Yoga with Cathie, a fantastic addition to your regular yoga practice. Using small hand weights, the class will begin and end like a traditional yoga class. In the middle, we will alternate between a yoga segment and an upper body weight segment, building a well rounded, full body workout. During this 8-week course, you will learn the components of self-compassion and become aware of your inner critic. When navigating life transitions, traumas, and events, it can hinder our creative abilities. Often times, we are unable to find the words to express why we feel, how we feel. Meet Michele Whalen, who has experience in Mental Health counseling and Art Therapy as she encourages us to embrace our emotions, and channel that power through art. Art Therapy For All Time 10:00 AM Art Therapist Erin Shahly, MEd, ATR, will host an interactive therapeutic art workshop. We’ll focus on self-expression and self-discovery. There is no experience necessary to participate, all are welcome. We will come together to create meaningful worksof art that will provide a creative outlet and promote relaxation. Common supplies to be used regularly will be household items such as: newspaper, magazines, tape, foil, markers, crayons, paints, glue etc. but you can use what you’ve got! Info & Registration
Weighted Yoga Time 10:00 AM Join us for Weighted Yoga with Cathie, a fantastic addition to your regular yoga practice. Using small hand weights, the class will begin and end like a traditional yoga class. In the middle, we will alternate between a yoga segment and an upper body weight segment, building a well rounded, full body workout. (1 and 2 pound weights can be used together to create a 3 pound set. 2 and 3 pound weights can eventually be put together to equal a 5 pound set.) Info & Registration

Dig Into Gardening: Nature's Therapy Time 11:30 AM Study's show that gardening can provide natural theraputic benefits to our mental health. This summer series will focus on 10 benefits to gardening that reduce stress, practice acceptance and help us 'bathe in green.' Together we'll start our own home gardens (indoor or out) have an opportunity to explore our creative side, learn some tips and tricks along the way and of course, get our hands a little dirty! Mindfulnes Based Self Compassion Series Time 6:00 PM Do you treat yourself as kindly as you would a close friend when they're struggling and in need of compassion? During this 8-week course, you will learn the components of self-compassion and become aware of your inner critic. Through guided meditation, gentle movement, stretching and group discussion, your self-judgment will soften. You will discover that far from being selfish, self-compassion is an essential ingredient of healthy relationships. You will receive a workbook of class materials and resources.
